Things To Remember 001

Don't Sweat The Small Stuff by Kristine Carlson is one of my favourite books of all time. It had offered me a new perspective, and a sense of calm whenever I pick it up and read it. This book has inspired me to start a little blog series which I have named "Things To Remember". Nothing too deep, but just some quotes or things I have been reminded of and have been thinking about recently.
I thought it was a nice way to share positivity and inspirational words as they have inspired me.

There is no elevator to success, you have to take the stairs. //
If you continuously compete with other you become bitter. If you continuously compete with yourself you become better. //
Tidy desk, tidy mind. //
Every day might not be good but there is something good in every day. //
Worrying will never change the outcome. //
Always walk like you deserve to be right where you are. //
Start each day thankful for what you have. //
If it doesn’t challenge you, it wont change you. //
Collect moments, not things. //

Sally Hansen Salon Manicure - Mermaid's Tale

Hi everyone I have a little review for you all today! This beautiful polish was chosen especially for me, by my boyfriend as a surprise. Isn't he lovely?! I have to say I am very impressed with his choice. I hadn't seen Mermaids Tale before I received it as a gift, but it is an eye catching shade. The base is dark ocean blue colour with a jelly formula, and suspended in the polish are blue and green hex glitters, sprinkled with small blue glitters. I have to say I love the Sally Hansen Salon Manicure polish brushes, they are really wide and the polish applies really well. The consistency is perfect, it's not runny at all or gloopy and the brush picks up the glitters easily. Alone, Mermaid's Tale is quite sheer and in the swatches below I have painted Barry M's Nail Paint in Black underneath it to give more depth, I did swatch it on it's own but it didn't look as pretty. Mermaid's Tale reminds me of Deborah Lippmann's Across The Universe which is also a beautiful polish, but Mermaid's Tale is more affordable. I will probably try this polish over a few more shades to see what effects it makes and post those up later. Sally Hansen claim that the Salon Manicure polishes are a 5 in one (base coat, strengthener, growth treatment, salon-inspired color, top coat, chip-resistance and a gel finish) but I think Mermaids Tale benefits from a topcoat, it gives a much glossier shine. Overall I am loving this polish, and I can see myself wearing it over and over again, it's so unique and beautiful.
You can buy Mermaid's Tale here.
What do you think of Mermaid's Tale? Have you tried any of the Sally Hansen Salon Manicure shades? Which are your favourites?

Models Own Wishlist

I'm sure all of the nail polish addicts like me out there are anticipating the Models Own half price sale that starts on 29th January, I certainly am! I haven't purchased any Models Own polishes for a while so I will most likely be taking the opportunity to get a few polishes that have been on my wish list for while. I personally love Models Own polishes, they are in my top favourite high street brands because they have a great colour range, their glitters are just beautiful and they don't go gloopy and become unusable in a couple of months. Anticipating the Spring / Summer I think I am being slightly premature with some of the colours I want to order, but who cares! I am keeping my hopes high that the weather takes a warmer turn very soon, and when it does I will have my bright nails ready and waiting. Plus, if there is a sale, who is to argue?

Polish For Tans Collection
I am in love with these polishes, and needless to say I will be ordering all 5.  They were released last April and I didn't immediately jump on the bandwagon with them but since having researched the shades and looked at other bloggers reviews I just have to have them all.
Discopants Collection - Copacabana
Again, I am slightly late with picking up any of the Discopants polishes but I can honestly say none of them really took my eye until I was Christmas shopping in Bluewater Shopping Centre in December, and Models Own have a pop up store there. I bought a few polishes for my best friend for Christmas, and stumbled across Copacabana and reluctantly promised myself I wouldn't buy myself anything as this was a "Christmas shopping" trip. I have been having serious buyers regret since, so while it's half price I am going to pick it up.
Wonderland Collection
Oops I did it again. I have been admiring the Wonderland collection for a long while and have just never ended up buying them. I know I have been banging on about Spring and Summer but lets be honest. It's still winter. And sparkles and glitters (no matter what nail polish collection they are from!) look lovely all year round. And this time is as good as any to add them to my collection.
Colour Chrome Collection
These polishes definitely excite me. Having seen reviews / previews on a few blogs and websites I am going to buy a couple of the shades and if I love them as much as I think I will, then I will buy the rest.  I am lusting over Chrome Pink, Chrome Blue, & Chrome Gold.
What are your favourite Models Own shades? Are you going to be making a few purchases when the sale starts?

Technic Nail Polish Haul

Hi everyone! Today I have a rather large Technic nail polish haul for you. I have been buying Technic  polishes for years, I love how affordable they are and their colour range is pretty impressive! For home / personal use I would say they are one of my favourite high street brands. They don't often come out with new shades and I think I have pretty much every single one ever! I usually buy them from Bodycare (which is a UK store, I'm not sure if other parts of the world have them) but just before Christmas I found a website called Love Thy Makeup which stock Technic and I found a bunch of colours I hadn't seen so I just bought them all. From Bodycare they are slightly cheaper at 99p, on Love Thy Makeup prices start from £1.25 which is still a total steal. I bought 12 full size bottles and 3 mini's which came as a set. As I was so busy over Christmas I didn't have time to get them all out and test them all but I'm making my way through them in January / February. I would say the best polishes are their glitter topcoats they are beautiful and rival the likes of Deborah Lippmann and OPI. I am glitter obsessed so I had to buy them all! I have just picked out a few of my favourites from the haul today, all the others will be reviewed in detail soon. I got them all for just over £20! what to do you think to these shades? Have you tried Technic nail polishes before? Let me know in the comments if you've tried them before what your favourite shades are as I am always on the lookout for ones I haven't got yet!

Emerald Eevi - Technic have a few similar glitters to this one, in different colours but I hadn't seen this one before, so I added it to my basket. It's a beautiful clear based green holo glitter topcoat.
Isla Bonita - Quite possibly my favourite polish from this haul, Isla Bonita is a gorgeous and very cleverly designed glitter topcoat. It has a clear base with different sized and coloured hex glitters and with those also, different sized black glitter dots. Mixed together it's a stunning combo, and just reminds me of a party on a tropical beach. Every time I look at it I am transported into Summer and just love it!
Money Bags - Apologies for the glitter overload! Money Bags really caught my eye when I was browsing, I'm really glad I bought it now as it's much better in reality. Again, it has a clear base with blue, gold and copper hex glitters.
Lagoon - I had to include a polish that wasn't a glitter topcoat, Lagoon is just beautiful. I think after painting all of those deep, rich berry shades over the winter like the reds, purples and blacks I am ready to start painting some brighter colours. Blue is my favourite colour anyway, and this polish definitely reminds me of an exotic lagoon somewhere far away.
